General Worth Square

The JFK Tribute site is located in Fort Worth’s General Worth Square at the southeast corner of Main and 8th Streets, immediately adjacent to the former Hotel Texas, now the Hilton Hotel, where President and Mrs. Kennedy spent the night on November 21, 1963.  This park was a parking lot then and served as the stage for President Kennedy’s remarks to thousands of rain-soaked admirers.

General Worth Square, dedicated to the officer who was second in command to General Zachary Taylor at the opening of the Mexican–American War in 1846, is located just north of the Fort Worth Convention Center. With funding from the City of Fort Worth Parks Department, Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc. spearheaded basic improvements to the park, including new lighting, electrical repairs, brick work, irrigation and seating—all necessary infrastructure for an enduring JFK Tribute setting.
